Abstract:

Acanthopagrus latus is one of the major commercially exploited species in the Persian Gulf. In recent years, it has gained importance as a candidate for aquaculture. Haematological parameters of wild-caught specimens were studied during the pre-spawning period to determine if they are influenced by the sex of fish. Blood samples were collected from 55 Fish (30 female and 25 male) captured from the Musa Creek in the north-west Persian Gulf. RBC counts were higher in male than in female fish (P

Feeding habits of yellowfin seabream, Acanthopagrus latus was investigated in coastal waters of the Northern Persian Gulf. This investigation was conducted by monthly sampling of thirty fish from September 2011 through August 2012. Fish size ranged from 17.98 ± 2.07 to 32.31 ± 6.52 cm in total length and from 134.01 ± 45.62 to 720.46 ± 292.58 g in weight. The highest value of gastro-somatic ind...

Determination of heavy metals in Acanthopagrus latus (Yellowfin seabream) from the Bushehr seaport (coastal of Persian Gulf), Iran

In this study, bioaccumulation of lead, copper, cadmium, zinc and mercury in gill, liver and muscle of Acanthopagrus latus (Yellowfin seabream) was quantified. The concentrations of heavy metals were determined by using differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) after wet digestion method. The result comprise of concentration level of Cu2+, Cd2+, Zn2+, Pb2+ and Hg2+ in ten differen...

Seasonal Changes of Morphometric Structure and Plasma Hormone Levels of Thyroid Gland in Persian Gulf Yellowfin Seabream (Acanthopagrus latus)

Seasonal changes of the thyroid gland structure and hormones secretion was examined in yellowfin seabream Acanthopagrus latus in Persian Gulf (Zangi branch, Musa creek). Thyroid gland composed of follicles scattered around the ventral aorta, near the gills. Follicular cells varied according to secretion of the gland during warm and cold seasons. Thyroid hormones (Triidothyronine [T3] and Thyrox...

The Effect of Phenanthrene on Some Hematological Indices Yellowfin Seabream (Acanthopagrus Latus)

Background: We examined the effects of phenanthrene (Phe) on hematological parameters of yellowfin seabream (Acanthopagrus latus). Methods: The research was carried out in Jan 2016 at Khorramshahr University of Marine Science and Technology, Khorramshahr, Iran. Fish were injected with different concentrations (0, 2, 20 and 40 mg/kg) of Phe and blood, samples were taken from fish 1, 4, 7 and 14...

Characterization of Blood Cells and Hematological Parameters of Yellowfin Sea Bream (Acanthopagrus latus) in Some Creeks of Persian Gulf

In this study we detect different levels of blood cells and hematological parameters in five creeks of Mahshahr region in North West of Persian Gulf with different levels of pollutant to characterized hematological response of Yellowfin seabream to environmental pollutant and undesirable materials. Numbers of Blood leukocytes was performed by a hemocytometer Neubauer under the light microscope....
